Jheronimus Bosch (c. 1450–1516), born Jheronimus van Aken, was one of the most mysterious and innovative artists in Dutch history. His paintings, full of symbolism, dreamscapes, and social critique, turned the world upside down back then, and still do today.
Bosch was born and worked in 's‑Hertogenbosch, in his studio on the market square. He came from a family of painters and developed a completely unique visual language. His most famous work, The Garden of Earthly Delights, is full of surreal creatures, societal reflections, and humor that still captivates audiences 500 years later. Where others painted what they saw, Bosch painted what he thought and felt. His work was a mirror for society, a message wrapped in imagination. Art that provokes conversations, back then among the highest nobility, now among audiences all over the world.
👕 From brush to pattern: Bosch as clothing
At Jheronimus Clothing, we believe that art doesn't have to be a fixed form, but can be worn in all forms. Our clothing translates Bosch's ideas into modern streetwear: bold, socially conscious, and unconventional.
We combine sustainable production with local craftsmanship, from our social sewing workshop, thus paying homage to both the craftsmanship and the imagination of Bosch.
